BIG!!!!!!!!!!Bamboo Dome [04 August 2010]

Last assignment Real Construction that build a little cute dome also take 7 hours to complete.But,this time I gonna make a big geodesic dome within 30 minutes with 2 friends.This sound like MISSION IMPOSSIBLE.Rules of making big geodesic dome really tough for me especially ["Carryable" only by groups members]

In my opinion,get an idea,design an concept of dome and consider other factor must put in top priority instead of gather all that materials.So,there are require us consider a lot of thing for making this dome.First,base of dome must not too big or it cannot be carried by my teamate.Secondly is way to make a base with bamboo?Connect it with glue?? screw??connecter??Actually I also not sure way to build it.Thirdly gonna most important that is dome must float when 3 people go up.Component to make dome float must have air inside that component but where I get such component??There still got a lot of problem....BLA...BLA...BLA...BLA...It just look like endless.

There are 3 model of our dome design but there are its pros and cons for each model.Further discussion is needed for decide our dome.












We set our team name as KEDAH BOY-BOY because we 3 people are from Kedah state.Wow!! thing just occur coincidently.I put my product name as "EVAC" and it stand for evacuation when 2012 occur.

Real Construction [28th July2010]

This assignment have to build a geodesic dome with bamboo stick.Check it out at desert domes-dome calculator to get a reference.I choose 18.3cm as my 2V dome's radius because length of strut A is 11.30cm while length of strut B is 10.00cm.It will quite easy for me because I no need to round off that length.

First time I use cellophane tape to stick the strut but i totally just screwed because it doesn't work at all.Masking tape is better choice.

















There are 35 strut A and 30 strut B for geodesic dome.

That dome take almost 7 hours to complete and it is quite tiring but have some fun too upon saw that dome complete.
